“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.
Story line : three successful men come on a TV chat show,
“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
let not the mighty man boast in his might,
let not the rich man boast in his riches,
LET NOT x 3
BOAST x 3
each comes on in turn – carrying a LETTER opens it and BOASTs of his particular attribute.
Flip the W over to make M then add R to make Mister (MR)
On to the TV set comes humble servant called Butler Jim
but let him who boasts boast in this,
Butler Jim comes on carrying a toaster
Two pieces of toast (boast) pop out
that he understands
He places toast slice 1 under his foot ( understands)
and knows me,
He places toast slice 2 on his nose ( knows)
the Butler’s LORD comes on
that I am the Lord
who practises steadfast love, justice, and righteousness
He gets out a violin and practices slurs just right
( steadfast love, Justice and Righteousness),
in the earth.
Look down at his shoes – standing in earth
For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.
For in these
‘For in these things’ sounds like
‘43 strings I delight‘
Here is an overview of the chapter context of these two verses
And here is an overview of Jeremiah as a whole
