The Isaiah Servant songs

The servant songs (also called the servant poems or the Songs of the Suffering Servant) are four songs in Isaiah

Isaiah 42:1-4,

Isaiah 49:1-6

Isaiah 50:4-7

Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12

They are a about a servant of YHWH . God chooses and calls the servant to lead the nations but is despised and abhorred. Some see 61:1-3 as a fifth servant song but the word servant is not mentioned

It is very helpful to memorise several passages that have a theme by hanging them on an episodic story so I have chosen Downton Abbey – the period drama but you really can chose anything you like! I use the characters and scenes in this series to hang each of the five songs.
